Back last year (I believe in October or so), I posted that I had just had my ingrown toenail removed after weeks of pain of it growing farther and farther into the side of my toe. Last year, it had a large infection because of the ingrown toenail... Mama Wolf told me in private message I should probably have a surgery where they removed the nerve cells on that part of my toe so the ingrown part of the nail doesn't grown back... Well, I thought it would be good to get that done, but it started to leave my mind as the toenail seemed better to me.
A few weeks ago, it was hurting again. Since it grew back, I started cutting the side out every couple weeks, but this time, it was worse. The first day or so after we removed the ingrown part of the nail, it started feeling better... I thought I was in the clear... Then, it started hurting some more and I realized it was infected again. I soaked it in my bathtub and got excess puss and blood out, but alas, it wasn't healing. I started pouring Hydrogen Peroxide to help get out some of the nasty stuff... That was working. The swelling was going down and the skin around it was getting lose and dying.
Well, it was feeling better and looked way better until this morning. It was pussy and bloody again. I thought it was draining out some of the infection that was remaining and it was almost done. Throughout the school day, it kept bugging me and I felt like I needed to take it out of my shoe... After school, I took it out of my shoe carefully and saw some puss on my sock (I know, I know, you're thinking "WAY TOO MUCH INFO!" Sorry) ;) I told my mom it was hurting quite a bit and it was pussy and bloody again. She told me that we should go into a walk-in clinic nearby... After a lot of thought... I agreed... But, I made her promise that she would not consent to them removing even half of my toenail unless they had proof it was still in there and making the infection worse...
So, we went in and sat in the waiting room for about 45 minutes... maybe closer to an hour. The doctor finally came out and looked at my toe. She took some samplings, that because of the infection, were REALLY painful... The samples were going to be sent to a lab to make sure I don't have MRSA. She told us we need to cut the toenail in a special way from now on and I need take an antibiotic for 10 days... That's fine... I don't mind taking a pill... It's much better than having to get the nail removed... She said we may have to get part of it removed if the antibiotics and the cutting techique don't make it better... =(
And she put some ointment on it and wrapped it in bandages... and ever since that, it's been hurting... I'm hoping that's not a bad sign... hmmm...
