We came at just the right time. They were having an opening cerimony. We listened to the national anthem because they were singing it right as we walked up. We hurried inside for the shortened lines so we could get something to eat quickly. We looked around at all the food and I decided on the "Viking Meal"... which had 18 mini-meatballs, bread, jam, butter, red cabbage (eww...), and potatoes. I enjoyed everything except the red cabbage... but, I did at least try it. Believe it or not, I was still hungry by the end of that (what can I say... the meatballs were small) and I went for some smoked salmon chowder. Oh.... that was spectacular =D =D =D =D =D
So, after we finished eating... there was a yodeler there... my friend's mom wanted to listen... not for the whole hour, but for a little while. So, I barely survived ;) (I'm not a big fan of yodeling)... but, I got through 20 or so minutes... with about a ten minute break. He actually had a very good voice, but I just don't like yodeling too much.
We headed out after that. All in all, it was a pretty good day (especially the chowder!) ;)

I used to have a job cooking at a Scandinavian festival near my home. I had to wear a little red dress with a poofy white blouse and apron. I don't look at all Scandi. Then stand on asphalt over a smokin' hot grill. In August. Whew! The food is awesome, though - and I LOVE the red cabbage!
So if we ever hit a Scandi fest together I'll take that cabbage off your hands. ;) Poodle Circus
ps- make sure you get some lefse next time.
