It's taken place since Tuesday, really, so I'll start from the beginning... Essentially, we were all set to start receiving phone service on Tuesday... We were actually expecting someone to come out and hook us up... So, we waited and waited for the Verizon guy to show up... And after waiting till what seemed like noon, we finally called and asked when he was coming. The woman slightly giggled and said that they haven't sent a guy out to turn on phone service for years. They can turn it on from their closeby location and that it will be turned on between 8 am and 8 pm... My mom confirmed the phone number and we were all set.... Or so it seemed.... So, 8 pm came along... Still no phone service... My mom called and they told her something she couldn't believe.
They had no record of the phone number we confirmed with them earlier in the day... and, instead they had a new one for us... My mom was heated mainly because she spent a ton on printing on note cards that told everyone our new address and phone number, only to find out that wasn't valid... Anyways, my mom was on the phone for 2 hours or so and they told her she had this new phone number and they were sending a guy out to our house to hook it up the next day (Wednesday) between 1 and 5...
So, come 5 pm Wednesday, the guy hadn't showed up. My mom was even angrier that he was late and he finally showed up around 5:30 after she called... And then, when he finally showed up, he said he was going to have to dig up the ground and stick a cable in tomorrow... First thing... Well, he never showed up "first thing"... and we finally had to leave around 9:30... there was no note that said anything or any record that he had come by... So, my mom still angry that we had no landline called Verizon and asked them about it....
...Only to figure out that the guy hadn't told them whether or not he ever showed up... And we also found out our phone number had changed AGAIN... So, within the next two hours, it changed three or four times and we finally had enough with Verizon, especially after they told us we'd have to wait for 10 or 11 days for them to install a cord...
So, we pondered what to do for a few minutes and decided to scrap the bundle with Verizon... We'd keep DirecTV who bundled with them, but just go with Cox for the extra $15... And when we called Cox, they told us they can come out tomorrow and turn our phone service on...
Now, I don't want to sound paranoid, but with all of this trouble, I sure hope this stuff with Cox doesn't go the same way it did with Verizon...
So, anyways... that was just some of my day... The rest of it was taken up by visits to my school and Caroline's school... We'll see how the year goes... hmmm...
