Yesterday, we drove up to Portland to see a group of singers called the Singing Christmas Tree. Most of the people sit up in a large (I don't know what it's made out of, but it's big) fake Christmas Tree that has seats in it. About 120 people fit up in the tree and others stand below and to the sides of it. They also have a probably 30 kid youth choir and a pianist, violinist, and four to five singers who sing words separate from the group.
We stopped to see some puppies along the way, one of which we may decide to get for our family. I woke up just as we got there, changed into my fancy dress pants (which we'll hear more about a little later) and went inside the building. My mom and sister went to the bathroom and took about 20 minutes because of the huge lines! That just shows you how many people were there... and that was just in the ladies' restroom! It was jam packed! There were probably 200 people waiting in the main lobby! We grabbed a pretzel and two drinks before we went in and within two or three minutes of getting into our seats, the performance started. They sang very well for quite a while and then we had a few musical performances by violinists and pianists. After about an hour, it was intermission. We got to view the orchestra pit down below, which we couldn't see from our seats.
The second half was a little bit better, in my opinion, and it seemed a lot shorter. Then, we stayed around and talked to one of the choir members (we forgot to ask if he was sitting in the giant tree or not) and hit the road to go find somewhere to eat. We settled on Red Robbin....mmmmmmmmmmmm... Always one of my favorites =D Now, we're back to the dress pants. I was still wearing them and right after I asked for a napkin and we didn't have any at the table for me, my huge, beautiful Whiskey River BBQ Burger fell right in my lap. As soon as it happened, you could tell those pants were history... But that wasn't that big of a deal. The next time I would wear those, they would probably be too small.
I picked the burger up off of my lap and placed it back in my basket and continued to eat it... It was really good, but I had to hold my jacket in front of me, which looked a little awkward, as we were walking out the door. I changed back into my jeans in the car and we drove back home. I watched some TV and went to bed..... zzzzzzzzzz....
Today we're going to pick up the Christmas Tree and to set up for Christmas! All I'm asking for this year is one video game and tons of postage stamps, PZ Kut, and other Letterboxing stuff! ;)
