First, they used this numbing thing that they rubbed on, they let it sit for 20-30 minutes, then they did it again, but only let it sit for about 5 minutes... Then, they did a really long shot that I didn't feel into my gums. They let that sit for 3 minutes... And then they put the mouth thing I mentioned earlier in and they drilled in... After a long time of that, they put the stuff in there to fill it and used this thing that shook my skull... It was actually kind of fun at that part ;)
They said the cavity went all the way down to my nerve, so I may have to have a root canal if I have intense feelings there when I eat or drink... So far, I haven't had anything, but I haven't eaten much on that side...

AUGHHHHHHHHHHH Sorry Bob ... I am the WORLD'S WORST dental patient !!!!!!!!! Here are my fingers crossed that you do not have to have a root canal ........
Thankfully, I got my father's teeth. I've never had a cavity (nor has either of my paternal grandparents)-- hereditary hard teeth. My mother has had multiple root canals, gum surgery and about everything in her head filled. Her sisters all lost their teeth long ago.
I've always thought it was fascinating how much genetics matter with teeth. So far my sons are holding out at no cavities, but it's still too early to tell....
Of course, we've already paid for braces for one of them (I had them as a kid so I gotta take the blame on that one!).
